At a press conference in Springfield, Representative Ugaste joined colleague Joe Sosnowski to discuss issues related to education and the budget in Illinois. They addressed concerns about the current approach to funding education.

Ugaste stated, “It’s time to end Evidence-Based Funding for Education.” He expressed concern that despite increasing financial investments in education each year, there has been no corresponding improvement in test scores and student performance. “We are spending more money every year on Education, but test scores and student performance are not improving,” he said. Ugaste emphasized the need for change by stating, “We can and must do better.”

The remarks from the press conference highlighted a call for reevaluation of how educational funds are allocated in Illinois.
