With the legislative session nearing its end, State Representative Dan Ugaste of Geneva has articulated his expectations for the upcoming state budget. According to Ugaste, Democrats are set to present a multi-billion-dollar budget without sufficient transparency or taxpayer input.

“We are stuck in a terrible cycle,” said Rep. Ugaste. “Every year, the majority party funds new programs we can’t afford, with no plan to pay for them long-term. Then, when the economy turns, they raise taxes, making things even worse for working families. It’s reckless, unsustainable, and exactly why people are leaving this state.”

Rep. Ugaste has stated he will not support any budget that does not adhere to certain common-sense standards. He also criticized what he described as a closed-door process during budget season in Springfield.

“The people of Illinois deserve honesty, fiscal discipline, and relief from the constant pressure of tax-and-spend policies. I’ll keep fighting for that,” concluded Rep. Ugaste.
