North Aurora homeowners paid property taxes equal to 2.2% of their home values for the fourth quarter of 2025, surpassing the national average by more than 2.5 times, data from BlockShopper.com show.

Sales records from the fourth quarter of 2025 reveal the median North Aurora home price was $353,500 among 60 properties sold. Throughout 2025, the typical tax bill in the city reached $7,811— amounting to 2.2% of the median taxed home value.

The average effective property tax rate nationally stood at 0.888% in 2024.

Within Kane County, Maple Park and Sugar Grove topped the list of cities with the highest property tax rates.

The analysis above uses estimated inflation values alongside the county’s 2024 tax data to calculate the effective property tax rate for 2025. Actual effective rates could differ somewhat.

National home prices saw continued growth in 2025, with the U.S. median price climbing to about $447,000 in June, representing a 1.13% increase from the year before, according to Redfin.
