Clarke vehicles will conduct mosquito spraying in Geneva from dusk on Thursday, July 17, to dawn on Friday, July 18. This action follows a positive test for the West Nile virus in a local mosquito surveillance trap. Geneva is working with nearby municipalities to carry out this mosquito control effort.

The City’s contractor will apply a synthetic treatment that poses no risk to humans and pets. However, individuals with asthma or other respiratory conditions are advised to remain indoors with windows closed during the application and for one hour afterward.

Residents can report issues related to mosquitoes and standing water directly through Clarke’s online portal. Additionally, people can register for advanced notifications about spraying activities from Clarke.

The City of Geneva also offers mosquito spraying notifications through its “community alerts.” Residents interested in receiving these updates can subscribe by selecting the Notify Me button on the City’s website.

In case of inclement weather, mosquito spraying may be rescheduled. The City will post any necessary updates on its website.

For information on preventing West Nile or other mosquito-borne illnesses, residents are encouraged to visit the Kane County Health Department’s website.
