The City of Geneva announced on April 6 that a public hearing will be held regarding proposed amendments to the city’s Zoning Ordinance. The Planning & Zoning Commission is set to conduct the hearing at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 23, at Geneva City Hall, located at 109 James St.

The proposed changes were submitted by the Community Development Department and are intended to bring Geneva’s Zoning Ordinance into compliance with the State of Illinois People Over Parking Act, which becomes effective June 1, 2026.

According to city officials, these text amendments are necessary to ensure that local regulations align with upcoming state requirements. The updated application for these changes has been posted on the City of Geneva Development Projects Map.

Residents and interested parties are encouraged to attend the public hearing or review details about the proposed amendments in advance. This meeting provides an opportunity for community members to offer input before any final decisions are made by city authorities.
