The City of Geneva announced on Mar. 19 that the Division Street water main replacement project will restart the week of March 23 after a pause during winter.
The project, which began in September, involves replacing the existing water main on the north side of Division Street with new infrastructure on the south side. The work zone stretches from Second Place to East Side Drive. According to city officials, completion was originally planned for last fall but has been extended into 2026 due to bad weather.
During construction, Division Street will remain open only for local traffic. The city said that the previously established detour route will be reinstated. Motorists will be directed north on Second Place into St. Charles, west on Moore Avenue, and south on Seventh Place, which becomes East Side Drive in Geneva. For drivers heading north on East Side Drive, the detour will be reversed.
Additional information about the project and a map of the detour route can be found on the Division Street water main replacement web page.
City officials have not provided further details about future phases or potential impacts beyond what is currently scheduled.
