The City of Batavia announced on Mar. 3 that it made significant progress on its Strategic Plan for 2024-2028, highlighting accomplishments from the year 2025 and providing an update for the first quarter of 2026.

The update matters to residents as it outlines improvements in infrastructure, public services, and community engagement, reflecting ongoing efforts to enhance quality of life in Batavia.

According to the city, major achievements in 2025 included constructing the River Street ramp and improving access at the Larsen Becker lot. The city also advanced public restroom design for downtown and approved incentives for a new 72-unit workforce housing complex. In addition, Batavia purchased property intended for a large-scale housing development and began digitizing approximately 1,000 boxes of community development and police files. A new website and mobile app were launched to improve public service delivery.

Community engagement initiatives featured online permitting options, standardized memo templates for agenda items, and hosting Farmers Market events. The fire department secured a state grant, added a firefighter to improve coverage, and digitized training records. Lead service line replacement continued ahead of schedule while electric utility planning progressed through rate design studies.

These efforts are part of Batavia’s broader commitment to progress and community well-being as outlined in its multi-year strategic plan.
