The City of Batavia has announced road closures for McKee Street and Van Nortwick Avenue due to an infrastructure improvement project linked to the Pulte Ashton Ridge Development. Starting May 27, the roads will undergo full reconstruction and watermain replacement, necessitating their closure to through traffic until the project’s completion in August.

The initiative involves comprehensive pavement and road base reconstruction, new curb installation, and existing watermain infrastructure replacement. The affected sections are McKee Street from Stonefield Way to Van Nortwick Avenue and Van Nortwick Avenue from Wilson Street to Illinois Avenue. These upgrades aim to improve roadway integrity and maintain water system reliability.

Residents may experience temporary restrictions on driveway access, especially during curb installations or work in front of homes. Advance notice will typically be given 1-2 days prior. On-street parking restrictions will be eased in the impacted areas with specific instructions provided via door hangers. Temporary water service interruptions may also occur during watermain connections, with advance notification when possible.

To ensure project completion before the school year begins in August, both streets will remain closed to through traffic throughout construction. Detour routes will be marked for driver guidance around the closure.

For further details or inquiries, residents can contact the City of Batavia Engineering Division at 630-454-2750.
