The City of Aurora announced on Mar. 30 that Aurora GreenFest will return on Saturday, May 2, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., following a one-year hiatus.
The event is organized in partnership with the Mayor’s Sustainable Aurora Advisory Board and Aurora GreenLights, an affiliate of The Conservation Foundation. Organizers say the festival aims to educate attendees about energy efficiency and sustainability through more than 100 exhibitors.
This year’s theme is “Make a Difference! Be Energy Smart!” Special exhibits will provide information about saving energy at home, available rebates for household items, and demonstrations of do-it-yourself projects. Organizations such as the Chicago Herpetological Society and Fox Valley Electric Auto Association will participate by sharing information about wildlife conservation and electric vehicles.
A community marketplace will also be featured at the festival, offering products intended to make homes healthier and more energy efficient. Local artists, jewelry makers, artisans, environmental groups, and local government officials are invited to apply as vendors or exhibitors through the festival website.
“GreenFest is an amazing way to keep our community sustainable and resilient,” Festival Founder and Chairwoman Mavis Bates said. “We love bringing our community together to celebrate sustainability, and appreciate Aurora’s support for GreenFest since 2010.”
Vendor applications are still being accepted ahead of the event.
