AT&T is installing fiber optic service in the Village of Gilberts, with crews currently working in the Timber Trails and Town Center areas, according to a March 31 announcement. The work is expected to continue over the coming weeks.
The project aims to expand access to high-speed internet for residents. The village has acknowledged several concerns from residents regarding restoration efforts after construction and stated that it has been communicating these issues to AT&T.
Before starting work at a property, AT&T crews leave door hangers as notification. Construction takes place within utility easements located along most properties, usually in side-yards or at the rear of backyards. The installation process involves several steps: utility locating, directional boring, cable placement, and cable splicing and testing.
Residents are asked not to remove any flags marking underground utilities; these markers are essential for safety during excavation. Typically, flags will be removed about one week after excavation is finished. Restoration of affected areas will take place once all underground work concludes.
Questions or concerns about the project can be directed to AT&T’s dedicated project line at 1-800-843-6581.
