On May 1, 2024, Senator Don DeWitte and State Representative Dan Ugaste are collaborating to host a Free Food Drive and Shred Event in St. Charles. The event aims to assist residents with spring cleaning by providing a safe way to dispose of old documents while also collecting non-perishable food items for The Salvation Army Food Pantry.

Rep. Ugaste expressed his enthusiasm for the event, stating, “I am very pleased to be offering these free events alongside Senator DeWitte.” The event, scheduled for Saturday, May 4, from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at The Salvation Army Tri-City Corps Joe K. Anderson Community Center, will provide a platform for residents to securely shred old bank records, receipts, and other documents.

Participants are encouraged to follow traffic signs and stay in their vehicles, as shred truck staff will be available to unload cars. Parking will be provided for those interested in witnessing their documents being fed into the shredder. Senator DeWitte highlighted the importance of the event, mentioning, “As people are gathering their sensitive documents for free, safe and secure destruction, I hope they will look through their kitchen pantry and grab a few nonperishable items to donate.”

The initiative not only offers a valuable service to the community for document disposal but also aims to support those in need by replenishing supplies at The Salvation Army’s food pantry. The event underscores the collaborative efforts of Senator DeWitte and Rep. Ugaste in serving their constituents and fostering community welfare.
