On March 25, 2024, the nation commemorates National Medal of Honor Day, a day dedicated to honoring the exceptional bravery and sacrifice of individuals who have received the highest military award for valor.

Established in 1861, the Medal of Honor is a prestigious decoration bestowed upon members of the armed forces who have demonstrated extraordinary heroism in combat. Since its inception, only 3,517 individuals have been granted this esteemed recognition for their acts of valor and selflessness.
