ILLINOIS STATE HOUSE DISTRICT 84: Kifowit Responds to Governor’s Budget Address, Looks to Priorities in New Spending Plan

84

Illinois State House District 84 issued the following announcement on Feb. 19.

State Rep. Stephanie Kifowit, D-Oswego, issued the following statement following Governor J.B. Pritzker’s budget address Wednesday:

“The governor’s budget address laid out a road map to continue to improve the financial condition of the State of Illinois.

“It is very important to me to ensure that we continue to pay down old bills and meet our pension obligations. Additionally, we have to continue to work towards properly funding our schools and reduce property taxes, in addition to strengthening the Department of Children and Family Services so that we do not have another child die under our care. Meeting the essential needs of our more vulnerable residents need to be a top priority for the state.

“I appreciate the vision and dedication of the Governor to work with the General Assembly to pass a balanced budget that continues to reverse the damaging effects of the budget impasse. Last year we took important, bipartisan steps to put Illinois back on track. I am confident that once again we can pass a responsible spending plan on schedule that will build a stronger Illinois for all residents.”
