City of Geneva Cultural Arts Commission met July 11.

Here is the minutes provided by the commission:

Commission Members Present: Chazmin Baechler, Kent Gallagher, Carolyn Hill, Alexia Monaco, Jan Schmuckal, Dana Teichart, Tim Vetang

Commission Members Absent: Doug Holzrichter

Also in Attendance: Cate Tracy, City of Geneva

1. Call to Order: Chairman Vetang called the meeting to order at 7:06 pm.

2. Amendments to Agenda: Agenda stood as presented.

3. Approve Minutes – June, 2019

Gallagher moved to approve the June minutes, seconded by Schmuckal, motion carried.

4. Review Financial Reports

Fund Equity Balance $48,897.72          Financial Reports were accepted as presented.

5. Commission Vacancy – Discussion was held concerning common questions to ask at the interview session.

6. Review Street Performer Series Concept – Tracy

A Project Outline Draft for street performer series in 2020 was discussed.

7. Reports

a. Shakespeare in the Park – Vetang (for Gail Gaboda)

Everyone agreed it was a successful event with about 650 people in attendance. $918 was collected in donations.

b. Summer Series - Hill

About 260 people attended the July 7 concert and $243 was collected in donations.

c. Geneva Fine Art Fair Booth – Vetang

GCAC will have a booth July 27-28 at Dodson Place on 3rd Street which the Foundation will share. Schmuckal will create new rack cards for this and future events.

d. Foundation Update – No Report

e. Gimme Shelter Bus Stop Art – Vetang           Future bus stop art is in progress.

f. Art Guild/Arts Ramble - Vetang

Various Art Guild issues were discussed. They will participate in the Ramble in 2020.

g. Mural Project – No Report

h. Sculptured Bike Rack – Schmuckal          Future bike racks are in progress.

i. Steeple Walk – Gallagher          The 2019 Steeple Walk will be Sunday, December 8.

Commissioner Comments & Events – Schmuckal presented a poster of the Fabyan Estate Japanese Garden. The Commission would like to sell the poster as a fundraiser at the City store and Geneva shops. Tracy will share this idea with City staff for consideration.

8. Public Comments – There were none.

9. Adjourn - Motion to adjourn was made by Gallagher and seconded by Schmuckal.

Meeting adjourned at 9:00 pm.
