Geneva City Council authorizes water main replacement contract

Geneva City Council met Monday, March 6.

GENEVA CITY COUNCIL MEETING MARCH 6, 2017

CALL TO ORDER

The March 6, 2017 meeting of the Geneva City Council was called to order at 7:03 p.m. in the Council Chambers of City Hall by Mayor Kevin Burns. Aldermen present: Mike Bruno, Don Cummings, Dean Kilburg, Craig Maladra, Richard Marks, Jim Radecki, Mary Seno, Tom Simonian, Ron Singer. Aldermen absent: Tara Burghart. Also attending: City Atty. Charles Radovich, City Administrator Stephanie Dawkins.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

Led by Geneva Girl Scouts in attendance.

PUBLIC HEARINGS, SPECIAL ITEMS AND PRESENTATIONS

Proclaim Girl Scouts Week in Geneva

Moved by Ald. Marks, seconded by Ald. Cummings to proclaim March 6-12, 2017 as Girl Scouts Week in Geneva. Carried unanimously by voice vote. MOTION CARRIED

Mayor Burns presented a copy of the proclamation to the scouts.

AMENDMENTS TO AGENDA

Moved by Ald. Maladra, seconded by Ald. Cummings to amend the agenda to include a closed session, the purpose of which is to discuss matters concerning the sale, purchase or lease of real property for the use of the public body. He noted that no action will be taken in Open Session. Roll call:

AYES: 9 (Ald. Bruno, Cummings, Kilburg, Maladra, Marks, Radecki, Seno, Simonian, Singer)

NAYS: 0 MOTION CARRIED

OMNIBUS AGENDA

All items listed on the Omnibus Agenda are considered to be routine by the Council and will be enacted by one motion. There will be no separate discussion on these items unless a Council member or citizen so requests in which event the item will be removed from the Omnibus (Consent) Agenda and considered in its normal sequence on the Agenda. NEW BUSINESS

Boy Scouts in Attendance

Mayor Burns recognized the presence of several Boy Scouts, who were observing the Council meeting as part of their merit badge requirements.

Northern Illinois Food Bank Volunteers

Ald. Singer reported that last Saturday he and 17 other volunteers packed 7,200 pounds of canned food at the Northern Illinois Food Bank. He said the food will provide 6,000 meals for hungry persons in northern Illinois. He thanked all of the volunteers for participating.

Congratulations to GHS Girls Basketball 4A State Champions

Ald. Kilburg congratulated the Geneva High School girls basketball team for winning the 4A championship at the State Girls Basketball Tournament held in Normal. He noted that this is the first basketball state title to come to Geneva High School in its 110-year history of participation in the sport.

NRC Wine, Cheese and Trees Fundraiser

Ald. Bruno recognized the Geneva Natural Resources Committee for hosting the Wine, Cheese and Trees fundraiser last weekend. He said that more than $16,000 was raised to provide additional trees to the city.

NAYS: 0 MOTION CARRIED

The Council returned to Open Session at 8:01p.m.

There being no further business, moved by Ald. Simonian, seconded by Ald. Marks to adjourn the Geneva City Council meeting. Carried unanimously by voice vote.

The meeting adjourned at 8:02 p.m.
