Hampshire ranked 220th in state in lottery ticket sales for February 2016

The Village of Hampshire had the 220th highest lottery ticket net sales statewide per capita for the month of February 2016 -- down 83 spots from its January ranking.

The per capita lottery ticket sales in Hampshire was $26.65 per person.

Based on monthly sales records obtained by the Kane County Reporter, Hampshire generated $163,335 in net sales from its nine lottery retailers in February 2016, compared to $183,851 in February 2015.

The Village of Hampshire is in Kane County, and has a population of 6,130, according to 2010 census data. Neighboring municipalities are Pingree Grove and Huntley.

Average sales for municipalities in the region in February 2016 was $24,442.34.

Hampshire's top lottery retailer is Starks Amoco located at 45W826 Rohrsen Rd, Hampshire, IL 60140.

Starks Amoco generated 32 percent of Hampshire's February 2016 lottery ticket sales and 2 percent of Kane County's sales that month, which was $3,324,159.

A close look at sales by city shows that the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita in Kane County in 2015 were West Dundee, Hampshire, North Aurora, South Elgin and Algonquin.

Statewide, the top five cities with the highest lottery revenue per capita were Forest View, Burnt Prairie, McCook, Mapleton and Merrionette Park.

The top five cities in the state generated $5,496,719 in net sales -- 1 percent of the state's 2015 net sales amounting to $2,793,271,709.50.
