Elgin Committee of Whole to review downtown welcome-sign designs

At a meeting this week, the Elgin Committee of the Whole will hear a presentation from the Image Advisory Commission, which will present the designs it has chosen for road signs that will be placed at the entrance to the downtown district to welcome visitors.

A. Consideration of Renewal of the Liability, Crime, and Workers’ Compensation

Insurance Programs for the Period October 1, 2016 through September 30, 2017

($765,928)

Objective: Protect the city’s financial resources and provide liability, crime and workers’

compensation insurance.

B. Image Advisory Commission Entry Way Signage Project Presentation

In 2014, the Image Commission was tasked with creating gateway entry signs at main

roadways leading into the downtown district. This presentation will depict the designs

chosen by the commission which is meant to enhance our image by welcoming visitors,

increase community identity and heighten the community’s sense of place.

C. Consideration of Proposed Ordinance to Provide for Regulations Regarding the

Installation of Personal Wireless Telecommunication Services and Facilities in the

Public Right?of?Way (No cost to the City)

Objective: Adopt regulations regarding the installation of personal wireless

telecommunication services and facilities in the public right?of?way in order to properly

regulate such facilities.

D. Consideration of Contract with Chicago Office Technology Group for Managed Print

Services (RFP 16?036) ($17,847)

Objective: Provide toner cartridges and printer maintenance services for printers

throughout the city.  

   

E. Consideration of Emergency Loan for the Latino Treatment Center  ($50,000)

Objective: Provide short?term financial assistance to Association for Individual

Development through the human services emergency loan program.  

   

F. Consideration of a License Agreement with BBK Motorsports (No cost to the City)

Objective: Assist a downtown business with marketing and visibility.
