Aurora is one of 10 cities chosen as the Top 10 Best Cities for Families by consumer finance website WalletHub, adding new status to its existing accolades.

Coming in at No. 7, the city scored well in the organization’s qualifying categories of family fun, health and safety, education and childcare, affordability and socioeconomic environment.

The standing is amplified by a recent parallel accomplishment, as WalletHub also ranked Aurora as one of America’s 20 “Best-Run Cities” this summer. Additionally, The Intelligent Community Forum, a global think-tank-style network, named Aurora as one of the world's Smart21 Communities.

"It is nice to be recognized as a top community once again," Aurora Mayor Tom Weisner said. "Our young people are our greatest asset, and this latest recognition confirms what people in our city already know — Aurora is a great place to raise a family. From family-friendly destinations such as Phillips Park and Blackberry Farm to our commitment to after-school programs, summer school initiatives, park-district programs and neighborhood festivals, Aurora cares for our children."

WalletHub provides nationwide analysis in the financial, credit and real estate sectors.
