Evans says career, family life prepared him for legislative challenges

Vote 09

Richard Evans, Republican candidate for the 22nd District State Senate seat, recently released a statement listing his qualifications to serve in the State Senate.

“The formula for responsible governing is not complicated," Evans' statement said. "Ending unwise spending and restraining the growth of the government are the essential components."

Evans said his career background has given him the skill set necessary to represent his district.

"I lived in Villa Park for eight years before moving to Algonquin in 1988," Evans said. "I worked as an auditor and accountant for many businesses within the district for almost 20 years. I am ready to accept the challenges of voting. As a CPA and a risk manager, I have the skill set to analyze proposed legislation and investigate the actual costs to taxpayers. I want to stop reckless and wasteful spending."

Evans said his family life also has prepared him for a legislative role.

"Blessed with a large family, my wife Marybeth and I worked to find cost-effective solutions to raise and educate our 13 wonderful children," Evans said. "Five of the kids have completed undergraduate and graduate studies, and four are currently enrolled in college. The four younger kids also benefit from the example, guidance and work ethic instilled in them by their older and successful siblings. I will work to assure a bright future for families and improved cost-effective ways to promote better education.”
